What is the NJPA Referral Service?
The NJPA Referral Service provides referrals to licensed psychologists throughout New Jersey. The Referral Service is designed to connect individuals, who request a referral for specific psychological services, to an appropriate and geographically convenient psychologist.
Who can access the NJPA Referral Service?
Consumers, professionals, schools, EAP's - anyone in need of psychological services.
How does the Referral Service work?
Based on the geographic location and the areas of specialty requested by the caller, three names of licensed psychologists matching the requested criteria will be given. Psychologists in the referral service are provided to callers on a rotating basis. Each psychologist in the referral service identifies populations they treat, orientations, techniques, and areas of expertise.
The caller will be advised to contact the psychologist directly for an appointment. Fee arrangements between the psychologist and the caller do not involve the Referral Service. The Referral Service does maintain information on Medicare and Medicaid providers. For all other insurance carriers, we advise that you obtain a list of licensed psychologists on your plan prior to calling the NJPA Referral Service. We will try to match our psychologists with those on your list.
What are the requirements for a psychologist to be a member of the Referral Service?
All psychologists listed in the referral service must:
- Be a member of NJPA in good standing.
- Be a licensed psychologist in the State of New Jersey.
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the Referral Service.
