This two-hour workshop will provide an overview of current conceptualizations of complex trauma in adults. Included in the overview are the following areas: the Adverse Childhood Events (ACE) Study, developmental origins, differential diagnosis and current status of evidence-based treatments and interventions.  

This workshop is designed to help you:

  • Define complex trauma as a unique clinical syndrome, differentiating it from other disorders (such as PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc), through examining the current research identifying the biopsychosocial, developmental sequelae associated with complex trauma disorders
  • Review the fundamental principles of a phase-oriented, relational approach utilized in all effective treatments for complex trauma
  • Examine elements of an integrated approach to the understanding and treatment of complex trauma
