DBT Foundational
Sunday, August 30, 2020, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT
Category: Outside Group Program

CBC will be hosting a DBT Foundational in August using a state-of-the-art virtual platform. The workshops will provide comprehensive training on evidence-based techniques and strategies for mental health professionals to help meet the wide range of mental health challenges of clients during this crisis and beyond. These foundational workshops are intended to prepare professionals to address the increased mental health needs in the community today and teach skills to engage clients using telehealth platforms. These foundational training workshops build knowledge, skills, and competence in DBT. Our virtual portal will permit participants to receive instruction, participate in discussions, observe role plays, demonstrations, videos, and practice therapy skills in small group sessions thanks to our team of instructors.

Certificates of Completion will be given to all attendees. 35 Continuing Education Credit Hours will be offered to all psychologists and to NY social workers for each workshop. Discounts are available if you sign up as a group. Student discounts and discounts for attendees who have enrolled in prior training at CBC are also available. For more information, please contact Saranda Krasniqi at (914) 385-1150 or via email at [email protected] or visit us at the CE For Mental Health Professionals tab to register.

DBT Foundational Training on August 31, September 2, 4, 8, and 10th, 2020. Registration and sign-in begin 8:30-9 am. Workshop hours 9-5 pm. The Five Day DBT Foundational workshop is for clinicians who are members of existing consultation teams. Dr. Alec Miller co-developed DBT for multi-problem and self-harming adolescents, which is now an established evidence-based treatment for multi-problem and self-harming adolescents. Dr. Alec Miller and his colleagues will teach the theories, structure, and practice of the DBT model, including strategies for individual sessions, skills training groups, inter-session coaching, and the effective management of a consultation team. Research has shown DBT with adolescents effectively reduces self-harm behaviors, depression, hopelessness, a dropout from treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, substance use, and interpersonal difficulties. Clinicians also have the valuable opportunity to receive ongoing consultation following the training to become adherent in practicing DBT. Upon completion of the 5-Day DBT Foundational training, attendees serving on consultation teams will have received the required hours of training in DBT to treat clients under supervision.

Please note advanced registration is required for this foundational. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
